Sherington CE School
  Special Educational Needs

  • At Sherington we are committed to realising the potential of all children. We assess all children at regular intervals so that teaching and learning activities can be appropriately matched for each child. All children can make notable improvements. These should be recognised and recorded.
  • If children need additional support we involve parents from the beginning and work closely with them.
  • Provision in school may include: in class support, curriculum differentiation, appropriate teaching strategies and home-school link activities.
  • Where a child has been identified as having a specific need, e.g. speech difficulties, then the school co-operates with the appropriate agencies.
  • One member of the Governing Body is designated to monitor Special Needs within the school.

Ofsted 2001: "Pupils' needs are identified at an early stage and sound support is provided."
