  • Parish Council: 7.30pm every first Tuesday in each month (except August) in the Village Hall.
  • Historical Society: 8pm every second Tuesday in the month (except August) in the Village Hall. Scroll down for the full SHS 2006 programme.
  • Short Mat Bowls Club: Monday afternoon and Friday evening at the Village Hall.
  • Sherington Football Club: details of fixtures are available on the Club's web site.
  • Sherington Parents and Toddlers: Friday mornings 10am to 12 noon in the Village Hall during school term time. Tel: 618806 for further details - or just come along. Excellent range of appropriate toys, a different activity each week, A small and friendly group. £1.50 for first child, 50p per additional child.
  • Youth Club: Wednesday 7pm in the Village Hall (From 13 Sept).

 Mobile Library - Revised Timetable
  • The Mobile Library will be outside the shop on Wednesday mornings from 11.15 to 11.45, once a fortnight.
  • 2008 dates are: August 13, 27, September 10, 24, October 8, 22, November 5, 19, December 3, 17.
  • If you are housebound you can use the Home Reader Service, and have books delivered to your home.
  Garden Waste
  • The dates for 2008 for Round 7 are: Tuesday 4/18 March, 1/15/29 April, 13/28(Wed) May, 10/24 June, 8/22 July, 5/19 August, 1/16/30 September, 14/28 October and 11/25 November.
  Sherington on Show
  • Saturday 11 October 2008.
  • All-day event with a bar-B-Q on the car park (bring your own food) to finish.
  • This year the Sherington Show has a different format as it is being opened up to all talents not just horticultural. Any talents are relevant, e.g. painting, stitching, knitting, lace making, cooking, handicrafts, fancy dress, calligraphy, putting on a small play, making a scarecrow, even (according to the organisers) running around the play area in your birthday suit! Also, this year it is being held on the traditional date of the Sherington Feast.

  New Thursday Group
  • Meetings: Village Hall at 8pm. All ladies welcome
  • 5 June - 'In the Steps of Gladys Aylward' - A talk by Hazel Staten. - Open Meeting - all ladies and gentlemen welcome. Hazel has, herself, had leukemia and to raise awareness about leukemia and related diseases she is undertaking a journey that will follow the footsteps of the remarkable Gladys Aylward via Moscow, the Trans Siberian railway to Beijing and on to Shanxi province.
  • 12 June - Summer Outing (open to non-members). Coach trip to Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. Some spare seats, cost approximately £20-£25 (including castle entrance).
  • 19 June - A short walk locally or meet afterwards for a drink.
  • 3 July - Pot Luck Summer Party. Bring a food dish plus cutlery/bowl/plate. At Pearl Teasdale's.
  • 17 July - AGM. Nominations for new committee members are required.
  • 4 Sept - Autumn session starts.
  • Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month and are open to all ladies. The annual subscription is £6. Members pay £1 (visitors £1.50) when they attend. Further information from the Secretary, Elizabeth Bright (Tel:618117)

  • The regular monthly meetings are held in the Village Hall on the second Tuesday of each month (except August), starting at 8pm. For further information please contact Kay Turrell, Mark Vale, Sheila Quinn or Pearl Teasdale. New members are always welcome.

  SCAN Kids
  • Now meeting in St Laud's Church - note the extra sessions on the third Tuesday of each month.
  • 4s - 8s. First and third Tuesday in the month, 3.15 - 4.30pm
  • Older children. Every Thursday, 7 - 8.30pm
  • These are an active and fun 'Sunday club on a weekday' and each has its own particular flavour according to age. The Christian teaching forms an important part and a varied programme is run.
  • Refreshments: tea and biscuits for Mums on Tuesdays, tuck shop on Thursdays.

  • Classes in ballet for children age 3 years and over are held in Sherington Village Hall on Wednesday and Thursday as follows:

  • Melanie is a fully qualified dance teacher and a Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. The children study the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and take examinations if they so wish.
