  Parish Council Meeting Minutes - Annual Parish Meeting 2006

Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Tuesday 2nd May 2006 in Sherington Village Hall commencing at 7.00pm

  PRESENT: Cllr David Hyde (Chairman of Parish Council).

  ATTENDING: Lara Bruce (Clerk) and 6 public.

  1. APOLOGIES: None.

  2. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: The minutes of the Annual Parish meeting held on 3rd May 2005 were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chairman.

  3. CHAIRMANS REPORT*:

- Parish Council Makeup. Thanks to Lara Bruce, thanks and congratulations to Wendy Austyn now on maternity leave. Sarah Jackson resigned September 2005; Peter Herbert was co-opted in January 2006.
- Sherington Recreation Field. Car park extended and fenced including security gate; children’s play area improved and enclosed; BMX area in place; Environmental Area with covered seating established. Thanks to SRMG and Cllr Burton. Open morning planned Saturday 24th June. Geoff Charles to chair committee with own delegation agreement from parish council. Phase 3 now planned but dependent on support from villagers. A %age of profits from the Village Fete was put towards the recent works.
- Under grounding and street lighting. Water Lane now completed; High St and Crofts End starting in July.
- Cycle Path. No visible progress made. Chief Highways and Transport Engineer attended March meeting to outline proposals, detailed plans awaited.
- Traffic Management. 30mph signs moved and Speed Indicator Devices confirm that traffic is still speeding through village. Occasional visits from local police with hand held speed gun.
- Village Hall path. Architectural drawings received, progress awaited.
- Environment. Drainage in Water Lane still a concern, foul sewer recently sleeved and new manhole covers but leakage continues. Still pursuing responsibility of ditch in fields behind and formal registration of Stone pits Close and the Knoll. Three poplar trees felled at Village Hall, replaced with six fruit trees.
- Meetings. Cllrs and clerk have attended trainings, and meetings that included issues of interest to the parishes as well as planning applications for wind farms.

  4. FINANCIAL REPORT The clerk reported the following figures:

  Bank Balance brought forward at 1st April 2005£ 9,048
  Total income, including precept of £15750 and grants of £21014£39,326
  Total expenditure including Perry Lane improvements of £34397(£20,324)
  Adjustments£34
  Bank balance carried forward at 31st March 2006£ 28,084

  5. PUBLIC QUESTIONS:

  None.

  There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.12 pm.
