The St Andrew's and Sherington Church of England Schools' Partnership

  PSHE/ Citizenship

  • Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship enable children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. At Sherington we encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. In so doing we help develop their sense of self worth. We teach them how society is organised and governed. We teach them about rights and responsibilities. They learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse multi-cultural society.

  Sex Education

  • First school children are relatively young and it is therefore felt not appropriate to 'teach' sex education as a specific subject. However, on occasions even young children will ask questions as part of their natural curiosity. Should this happen the teacher will respond in an honest and sensitive, but appropriate, manner which recognises the age and maturity of the child.
