The St Andrew's and Sherington Church of England Schools' Partnership

  History

  • At Sherington we usually teach history through a specific unit of work. For example, 'Seaside holidays in the past' or 'Toys'. Sometimes we look at specific events or famous people, for example, Guy Fawkes or Remembrance Day.

  • Children investigate history through direct experiences, different sources of information and artefacts. They are encouraged to ask and answer historical questions.

  • The youngest children start investigating history through their own family and the local area. As the children progress through school and their sense of chronology develops, they investigate periods of distant history. For example: 'The Great Fire of London'.
