The St Andrew's and Sherington Church of England Schools' Partnership

  Admission Criteria

  • In Milton Keynes the admissions policy for all primary schools has operated on a reserved area basis.
    • Every effort will be made to comply with parental preference with priority being given to pupils living in a school's reserved area.
    • Once all in-area applications have been dealt with then consideration will be given to out-area applicants, subject to the availability of places.
    • All those expressing a preference will be expected to complete an application form and return it by the due date.
    • Once the class size limit has been reached in the relevant year group, then all applicants will be turned down.
    • Parents will be advised on their right to seek a review and appeal.
    • Parents will be advised of the next nearest school with vacancies.
    • If this next school is more than two miles from the home address then transport will be provided according to the council's transport policy.

Places will be allocated at Local Authority Schools using the criteria shown below:
  1. Pupils living within the area normally served by the school.
  2. Younger siblings of older children who will still be on roll on the date of admission.
  3. Denominational preference for a Church of England school supported by proof of Church commitment.
  4. Children with exception medical or social needs, supported by written evidence from a doctor, social worker or other appropriate person.
  5. Children with exceptional educational needs, supported by written evidence from an appropriate professional.
  6. In the event of over-subscription, once places have been allocated under criteria 1-4, the remaining places will be awarded according to the proximity of the child's home to the school as measured by the nearest available route. This is from the front door of the home to the school's nearest entrance.
