The St Andrew's and Sherington Church of England Schools' Partnership

  Medicine

  • When a child requires medicine we encourage parents to organise its administration themselves. Dosages can be prescribed by GP's on a twice-daily basis or parents may administer medicines by coming into school during the lunch break. When necessary, only medicines prescribed by a doctor may be brought into school. Parents must complete a request form for this, which the Headteacher must sign.

  • We are happy to support children who require regular treatment for asthma and ask you to ensure they have the appropriate medication in school at all times. Please remember to update us if there are any changes to your child's medication.

  • If your child becomes ill at school we will, of course, contact you. It is important that you keep us regularly updated of any changes to the emergency contact numbers we hold at school, in particular mobile phone numbers.

  • When a child is off school due to sickness we ask parents to keep their child(ren) at home for a further 24 hours to aid a full recovery.

  The School Nurse

  • The nurse visits to carry out health checks such as hearing and sight tests and also on an informal basis if concerns arise. She also will give advice or information on a range of health issues. School medicals, whilst still a termly service, are no longer automatically offered to every child. If your child is not offered one and you would like them to have one then this service can be requested.
