Sherington Pre-school
  Pre-school Offers Your Child ........
  • FRIENDS At Pre-school, your child has the chance to make friends with children of the same age and also to relate to other adults. Children learn to share and take turns; they gain confidence and independence, and develop self-discipline based on consideration for others.
  • TIME AND ATTENTION Away from home chores, the adults at Pre-school have plenty of time to listen and talk to your child, to answer questions and share new discoveries. With at least a 6:1 child/adult ratio, there is time for telling stories and for enjoying songs and rhymes. There is time for your child to try out different activities, to concentrate - and to finish before tidy-up time.
  • CHOICE Your child can choose from a range of carefully selected toys that will develop skills of hand and eye, mind and body. There is a wide variety of equipment for stimulating play, and exciting material for creative activities - especially messy ones!
  • SPACE AND STIMULATION Pre-school has space for children to use all their energy; room to climb and dance, to build and explore. There is space for active play and for quiet play - safe space that is planned to meet the special needs of young children.
And For Parents And Carers ......
  • Pre-school also has much to offer you. As adults involved with the group, parents and carers, staff and committee members all work together for the best interests of the children, so we have much in common. We learn from each other and from the children, in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Through committee work, fund-raising and rota days you may gain new skills and confidence. You'll get to know others in your situation, and develop a support network - vital for those of us whose families are far away. And many lifelong friendships begin in the years when the children are at Pre-school together. So get involved - it's great for you and your child!
