Sherington CE School
  Welcome from the Headteacher
  • I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Sherington CE School. I hope that this web site will give you a flavour of life here and will encourage you to join us at Sherington.
  • Sherington CE School was founded in 1872 and has served the local community since that time.
  • Children's author Antony Lishak visits
  • Our aim is to realise the potential of all our children in a happy, safe and caring environment. This ethos rests upon mutual respect and encouragement within a context of Christian belief and practice.
  • We provide a rich learning environment and encourage all our children to be active in the learning process and develop the skill of independence.
  • We are very much a part of the local community and greatly value the part played by all those involved in the daily life of the school. Our Diocesan School Inspection in March 2001 recognised the 'real family atmosphere' in school and we feel that this is a major advantage of our small village school.
  • We keep literacy and numeracy as core features of our teaching, however, we place a great emphasis on the ‘whole’ child and provide a wide range of experiences for our children. In the last year we have experienced a Science week, Milton Keynes Schools Music Festival, Quantum Theatre, Cornelius & Jones puppet theatre, football and tennis coaching, cookery sessions, gardening activities, participating in developing an area of Perry Lane Recreational area and visiting St. Andrews School, to name a few!
  • Current developments are: an enquiry based research which has progressed to Pupil Voice within Role Play and extending the outdoor curriculum area through sustainability grants and other initiatives.
  • This web site can only give you a flavour of our school. The best way to appreciate us is to visit. You will then experience first hand our unique nature and see the advantages we offer our pupils. I hope to meet you soon.
