At pre-school we have been enjoying the theme of Under the Sea. In Key Worker groups the children have been captivated by a moving bubble picture projected onto the wall, enhancing the story of The Rainbow Fish told on tape. Finger puppets and our new comfortable cushions and blankets are helping to improve our welcoming atmosphere.

The children have been outside planting crocus bulbs donated by Sherington Parish Council and on Sunday 22nd November a tree was planted at the new Stonepits Copse woodland as part of the community tree planting project.

The staff are booked to do some more training on 'Mark Making' and 'ICT' with Milton Keynes Council; and as the term draws to a close we will be busy preparing for Christmas by making festive items on the craft table and preparing for the Nativity play on 8th December. We are also looking forward to the Christmas party!

The Autumn term continues with our "Colours" theme, soon to be followed by "Trains, Boats and Aeroplanes" and then "Under the Sea" before we start to prepare for Christmas. After Half Term we welcome Tobin, Charlie and Christian and hope they have lots of fun and happy times with us.

We were delighted to take part in a dancing session with Melanie Beeston during our "Music and Movement" theme and are enjoying playing with some new toys from Milton Keynes Council.

At our AGM on 8th October we watched an interesting presentation on Communication, Language and Literacy from Jo and Kay, before saying goodbye and thank you to the outgoing committee members. Special thanks to Jo Cowley who will be greatly missed but welcome to her successor Karon Sheen who is ready to take up the reins as Chairperson. Cheryl Dunkley and Collette Johnson have also joined the team along with Wendy, Nicola and Sharron who have agreed to stay on for another year. So much hard work "behind the scenes" is put in by the committee so thank you ladies!

Staff training sessions recently have included "Wiggle and Whoosh", "Cultural Diversity" and "Mark Making" ensuring that we are up to date with requirements.

Our Autumn Open Day was very well attended with several prospective children and carers coming to see how "Learning through Play" can be so much fun. We've had a great start to the new school year at pre school and have returned from the summer break refreshed and ready to start on the exciting learning experiences ahead. There is a fantastic term planned for the children and lots of opportunities for parents to get involved.

We welcome Evan who has just joined us and wish him many happy times ahead. Toby and Charlie will also be joining us in October and we look forward to greeting them.

Our Annual General Meeting is planned for the 8th of October at 7.30pm in the Sherington village hall this is our chance to say thank you to last year's committee member's and welcome to those who have volunteered for next year. Kay Turrell and Joanne Tough the joint supervisors will be presenting on Communication Literacy and language, a display of some of the lovely photos from preschool is also planned. We are always looking for new interested and enthusiastic people to join us, if you are interested in finding out more please come along, refreshments are included so it should be a good night.

The open day is on the 7th October 9.30am-11.30am during pre school in the village hall, anyone is welcome to come along and see the pre school in action. This is particularly good for people wanting to come to look around with their child and is a chance to speak to others about what the pre school could offer.

Our themes this half term started with Welcome both to new starters and back to all those newly big children who were coming back after their summer break. We will then learn about harvest and celebrate its arrival. Coming soon is music and movement when we hope to have Melanie Beeston local dance teacher in to dance and move with the children. We will then move on to African Animals with some wild and exciting discoveries, and colours before breaking on the 22nd October for half term.

Next half term starts on the 2nd November. In the run up to Christmas we are hoping to arrange a social evening and start our new year of fundraising with all children contributing to the design on a pre school tea towel, just in time for family Christmas presents.

• Our Christmas play this year will be on the 8th December
• The Christmas party is on 10th December - our last day of term.

We hope that you had a lovely summer holiday and are ready to return with smiling faces on Monday 7th September. After welcoming everyone back, our themes to begin the term will be Harvest and then music and movement.

We are planning an open day on Wednesday 7th October and our AGM will be on Thursday 8th October at 7.30pm, both in the Village Hall. You are all very welcome to attend and find out more about Pre-School. Please contact us on 07866 409169 (on or after 7th Sept).
