Subject: FW: Ref 708 Temporary 40 mph Speed Restriction on all Grid Roads within Milton Keynes

Though you may already be aware, please see below an extract from an internal email that I am forwarding for your early information as residents in your area may be affected

I have received an application from Wayne Samuels, Contracts Supervisor Milton Keynes Council for a temporary 40 mph speed restriction to cover the entire length of each of the Grid Roads within the Milton Keynes Council authority. The temporary restriction is to come into place only on specific roads and at specific times when necessary maintenance works take place on the carriageway or verges. The purpose of the restriction is to allow works including grass cutting, gully cleaning, Litter Picking, Street Lighting maintenance, Mechanical Sweeping, Lining maintenance, Stud replacement and all other maintenance related activities be carried out in safety. There will be an exception to this Order for emergency services vehicles.

Whilst the works are taking place appropriate road signs in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs manual will be displayed in advance of the works.

The Order will start on Friday 1st August 2008 and remain in place until 28th February 2010 (a period of 18 months).
